So I came across this last night browsing speedhunters. It made me want my car to look just like this one. Thing is being a Austinite car guy I'm pretty hip .. and its not hip to have what others already have. So I really really really enjoy this kamakazi livery I can't do it on my car because it's been done ):
Also this gave me the idea of wrapping my car I think it's pretty obvious this car was wrapped and I think I'd be happy with the same result on my car. I hate having super nice things because then I get super disappointed when I fuck it up.
So what are some other designs I could run with on the Datassun that won't be too extreme and in your face.. I love me a martini livery as much as the next guy but I'm not sure that's what my car needs.. What are your thoughts oppo !?

As nerdy as it sounds, playing around on Forza would be a good start on creating something. If you like this design, I would create this design (10 minutes tops) and then play with the colors and angles from there to find something that's original yet still inspired by it.

Replace the green with white and the yellow with blue. Still based on a real aircraft livery, it would compliment what they've done here.

This is one of my favourite Japanese paint jobs. Just google Japanese aircraft insignias. My son in law might have this painted on his 240Z by a sign painter.

I am not connected so I can't really screenshot it, but I can try to make you something and take a phone pic of it in the next few days. All it really is in my mind is the exact same car in a dark red with white circles and white stripes and flat black hood and accents. Check out that Petrolicious on the Z for my inspiration. But that probably doesn't fix the original problem of not being original. It's just very hard to be on a classic car like this, a 911, 510, etc.. because it's all been done in one way or another before.

This probably doesn't help you at all, but one of my guilt pleasures is my dream to take a Mustang and do it up in some famous WWII P-51 livery... Chuck Yeager, Bud Anderson, or a Red Tails influenced look. Not really particular on the generation of Mustangs, just want to make it look ridiculous.
